The Rospatent (Russian Federal Service for Intellectual Property, Patents and Trademarks) Russian-interface esp@cenet server was launched in 2006. The database contains granted patents from 2000 to the present.

In July 2007 Rospatent played host to the “Patent information for Innovations” seminar. Designed to increase public awareness of patent information in Russia, the seminar was attended by over 100 participants from the European Commission, the European Patent Office and scientific, innovation and technological centres in the United Kingdom, Denmark, Moscow, Novosibirsk, Yekaterinburg, Yaroslavl and Tula. More information about this event can be found in Patent Information News (issue 3/2007).

In December 2007 a seminar entitled “Train the trainers - patent information expertise in Russia” was held at the EPO's premises in Vienna, attended by specialists from Moscow, Saint Petersburg, Novosibirsk, Yekaterinburg, Nizhni Novgorod and Yaroslavl.

In 2008, following the above seminar, a number of patent information events were organised in Russia for postgraduates, young scientists, lecturers, patent specialists, SMEs and industrial enterprise directors and other experts and a book entitled “Industrial Design Patent Information in the Internet” was published.

In order to define further plans and co-operation activities, a follow-up seminar was held in Vienna in December 2008 which led to fruitful dialogue and an interesting exchange of views.

In January 2009 the esp@cenet assistant interactive e-learning module was translated into Russian and made available on the Rospatent website. The module includes a mix of theory and practical exercises, guiding you interactively through esp@cenet and allowing you to monitor your progress.

The above information is available in Russian on the Rospatent website.
